Having cut a 'v' out of the road-side part of the Bolan Tree
at a height of around 5 feet 9 inches above ground,
Laurence the tree surgeon starts the final fit to bring this piece down.

This is the Bolan Tree stump
which is protected inside the new cover.
You can see that the work HAD to be done.
You can see how little of the Bolan Tree trunk
remained to support the Tree.

Despite this fans were still climbing it to put their tributes up - until late in 2014.
It is a miracle they and/or road users were not injured or killed because
it is a miracle the tree wasn't toppled by their weight.

Laurence with the covering for the Bolan Tree stump.
This is made in solid oak. It needed four men to actually
lift the barrel over the Bolan Tree Stump, before being
secured in place. You can see that the work HAD to be
done on the previous image barrel which was fitted over
the tree stump, before being secured in place.

The Memory Board and the decorated barrel,
now ready for more tributes.
Please do take them with you, or send them to us

Saw Cuts done in January 2015.
As you can see by April, 2015 the bark
is becoming brittle and weakened by the sawing.

New worrying saw marks
which appeared since our visit in April 2015.
You can see a piece of Bark has been removed quite recently
as the wood underneath hasn't completely dried out.

The same saw mark from further away,
and from around nearer the memory board.
Heart breaking and potentially lethal had they
been able to fell the tree.
